Women on the water

Competition terms for the Boating New Zealand Women on the Water reader competition.

Promoter: Boating New Zealand Ltd, in partnership with Mermaid’s Secret.

Who can enter

Entry is free. Both the person submitting an entry and the woman entered must live in New Zealand and be at least 18 years old. Employees and immediate family members excluded under Boating New Zealand’s general competition terms cannot enter.

You may enter yourself once. You may nominate as many different women as you like. If you submit more than one self entry, only the first is eligible. If you nominate the same woman more than once, only your first nomination of her is eligible. Each nomination must tell us about the woman entered and her connection to boating.

Dates and prizes

The competition opens when the entry page is published and closes at 11:59 pm NZDT on Saturday 31 October 2026. Entries received after that time are ineligible.

There are two prizes. Each winner receives one Mermaid’s Secret First Breath Bundle, with a regular price of NZ$204. Each bundle contains Seafoam Revive Oil-to-Foam Cleanser, Sea Shield Water Cream and Sea Silk Leave-In Hair Serum. Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash.

Choosing and contacting winners

Boating New Zealand will select one winning entry for the quality or interest of its story. We will draw a second winning entry at random from the remaining valid entries. The same woman cannot win both prizes.

We intend to select both winners on Tuesday 3 November 2026. We will contact each winning entrant using the email address supplied in the entry form. The entrant must respond within three calendar days of our email. If we cannot contact them, or the woman selected does not want the prize, we may select another winner using the same method.

If you entered yourself, you receive the prize. If you nominated someone else, the woman you nominated receives the prize. We will ask you to introduce us to her before arranging delivery in New Zealand.

Privacy and publicity

We use entry information to run the competition, assess entries, contact winners and arrange prizes. Subscribing to the Boating New Zealand newsletter is optional and has no effect on an entry’s eligibility.

Submitting an entry does not give Boating New Zealand or Mermaid’s Secret permission to publish a nominated woman’s story or photograph. We will seek separate permission from the people concerned before using their stories or images in editorial, newsletters, social media or advertising.

Read the Boating New Zealand privacy policy . For competition questions or privacy requests, email ahoy@boatingnz.co.nz.

These specific terms take precedence over Boating New Zealand’s general competition terms where they differ, including provisions about marketing and publishing submitted material.
